People raised w healthy self-esteem later had their confidence hurt by experiences, and people raised w low self-esteem built confidence over time. That's why I don’t think current posture/demeanor necessarily reveals how they were raised.

Spotting and escaping it aren’t always the same-neither are determined by self-esteem alone.

Having high self-esteem, or even high IQ doesn't create immunity to being manipulated. The most successful manipulators are effective precisely because they don't appear manipulative at first.

One of Karmelo’s supporters has already threatened to be at the courthouse in a secret sniper position, ready to shoot Austin Metcalf’s family or supporters if they confront Karmelo’s family.
Karmelo Anthony is charged with first-degree murder for fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf in the chest over a seating dispute at a Frisco, Texas school track meet. Anthony claims self-defense, but those familiar with the evidence see it very differently.

Frisco ISD protected Karmelo at every turn: they refused to expel him after he brought a knife to a school event and killed another student. They even allowed him to graduate. His prior disciplinary record — including multiple fights and bringing knives to school — was hidden from the public.
The black community rallied hard behind Karmelo. They raised over $500,000 for his defense, called him a hero, and sold T-shirts with his face on them.

Meanwhile, Austin’s family has been put through absolute hell: edited memes of their dead son, death threats against his twin brother Hunter, relentless harassment, lies spread about them, and over a dozen swatting incidents.
Enough is enough.
Today the trial begins. It’s time for real justice for Austin Metcalf and his family.

Pray for truth in the courtroom. Austin deserves accountability. His family deserves peace.

@RoshanJimmy1 @itsme_urstruly Self-esteem can def affect how long someone stays once they recognize abuse. But it doesn't necessarily determine how quickly they're able to identify it. Manipulators can be quite effective, and victims often don't realize it until they're already invested.

Austin Metcalf Update

Austin was stabbed to death under his track team's tent by a student on another team.

The stabber was:

Karmelo Anthony

Karmelo admitted he stabbed Austin but says it was self defense. The only issue is, witnesses and his post event actions say otherwise.

Trial begins June 1.

Will be tracking this one closely.

Recall about $600k was raised for Karmelo's defense, but a new house, expensive car, and spokes people ate up a lot of the donations, per reports.

Austin did not deserve to die.

We shall see what a jury has to say.
