Buying a car is one of the biggest financial commitments many South Africans will make but complaints about problematic vehicle purchases are mounting. More than 11 000 formal complaints were lodged with the Motor Industry Ombudsman last year. Complaints range from vehicles advertised with features they allegedly lack to used cars developing serious mechanical problems shortly after purchase. @AASouthAfrica CEO Bobby Ramagwede says SA has a growing problem of misrepresentation in the motor industry and discusses what consumers should look out for before buying a vehicle. #Newzroom405

Agreed. In a price-sensitive market, buyers need real price discovery—not just a listing price, but a clear view of a vehicle’s true condition and likely costs.
Independent inspections make that possible. That’s why we built FindiMoto.

REPORT: YOUNG DRIVERS TURN TO CHEAPER CARS
Digital insurer Naked has published data showing how South Africans aged 28 and under are adjusting their car buying and insurance choices.
Comparing the years to July 2023 and July 2026, it found Volkswagen still the most popular brand, with Suzuki rising from third to second.
Average insured values climbed 22% to R262,000, reflecting price rises across the market.
Comprehensive cover remains almost universal at 98.9%, and about one in five take shortfall cover.
Savings are being found elsewhere: car hire benefits have fallen to 14.9% and average excesses have risen from R5,500 to R8,000.

One of my first car launches when I started my motoring career was with Kia back in 2019 when they launched the 1st-gen Seltos.
Today, I'll be joining them again for the 2nd-gen Seltos launch. The segment has change since then, can the new one compete with the Chinese?
