Fine Mess do new writing. Award-winning company supporting emerging playwrights. Bites & Scratches is our annual extract night, open submission until 010520
Thanks to @NationalEtheatr @bazmcstay for inviting me to be a part of this by directing @realjamesfarley in #Corelli + in turn inspiring me to write something brand new/close to my heart in #OneInThree - connecting @joeldoeswriting @WorldiePodcast to theatre. Plz donate still!
We are calling out the unacceptable and abhorrent phrase used in today’s Sunday Times listings around our productions of Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. It devalues the work of RSC Artists and we will be formally responding to John Dugdale and Emma Tucker.
Thank you to everyone for submitting pieces so far. If you’d like to stage an extract of your brand new writing (whenever it’s safe for theatres to do so of course) submit ten pages to the email below before Friday. Why not?
There’s no theatre, which is shit. There’s a lot of people at home working on new writing, which is great. And we’ve got lots of time to read some of it. Submissions are now OPEN for #BitesAndScratches. Email 10 pages of new work to [email protected] before May 1st.
https://t.co/jDR0UykaAy - just under an hour to tonight's premiere, it's SQUADDIE written by @joeldoeswriting , directed by @acylau and performed by @GabrielleMacph - you can set a reminder for it on this page, the stream starts at 7.30pm!
Tonight! @realjamesfarley has been working his socks off to get ready for this hilarious, heartwarming bit of 🎭 . Tune in 1930 @NationalEtheatr. Ive just videocalled/encouraged him SORRY directed him. That wont be happening tonight. There will be no directors on the night!
Can’t wait to be a part of this LIVE 😬 on Thursday 1930! Fine Mess AD @kylerosslondon working with the ace @realjamesfarley via whatsapp video to rehearse. Is is the future? Hopefully not but it’s certainly the present!
And our next stream will be at 7.30pm on Thursday 26th March, and it's a new monologue called CAPTAIN CORELLI, written by @bazmcstay, directed by @kylerosslondon & performed by @realjamesfarley . Tune in then!
Just over 24 hours til the first live-stream, an extract from A HUNDRED WORDS FOR SNOW by @TattyHennessy, dir. @lucypapoosky and starring @gemlbarnett - subscribe to https://t.co/pcmxvy5ChB - that's where this and all coming streams will be available.
I’m directing something for this on Thursday 1930. Watch live from the comfort/isolation of your very own home. Looking forward to tonight @lucypapoosky!
These guys got me to work with @bazmcstay for the first time, and we all know how well that turned out...
Send them some love, or even better, send them a play.
@GabrielleMacph Admittedly our logo is tres dark but an attempt at something Bitey (and scratchy?). Hopefully we can get a fantastic lineup secured and then brighten up everyone’s theatre life when it barks back to life #baddogpuns
And why not tell your writer friends about us? Previous #BitesAndScratches have been @ParkTheatre@arcolatheatre and @ThePleasance. This time we’ll have ample time to work with our writers beforehand. The only rule is it needs to be unperformed. Can’t wait to get reading!

Do we have a venue secured yet? No. Do we know when the event will be? No. But we’ve given a platform to 34 emerging playwrights to showcase the beginnings of new work, in 6 #BitesAndScratches since 2015. We never showcase the same playwright twice. So why not submit your work?
