The right are really jumping on the 781 Channel crossings yesterday.

Yes, it was the highest single-day figure of 2026.

But 18,565 people have crossed so far this year, compared with 32,188 at the same point in 2025. That’s 42% lower, and 26% lower than 2024.

A record day isn’t a record year. Context matters.

You know the clown live streamed it, right?
It literally shows the rescue worker already on the dinghy as Tommo’s boat approaches, so your claim that he only jumped aboard “after/during the slashing” doesn’t match the footage.

A lifejacket also doesn’t make deliberately slashing an inflatable boat at sea safe, and where’s the evidence this was “shallow water”? Even if Tommo shouted “jump in here”, that doesn’t suddenly give him licence to damage the vessel underneath someone.

And the “what about migrants being put into communities?” bit is just a completely different argument. You can oppose immigration policy all you like. It doesn’t mean these particular people were an immediate threat to anyone, and it certainly doesn’t turn a bloke with a knife interfering with a rescue operation into some sort of lifesaver.

“Tommo was saving lives” is an absolutely heroic interpretation of footage showing him stabbing an inflatable boat with a responder still on it.
