ANNOUNCEMENT TIME 🎉
Coming in 2025, my new game Esper Battlegrounds.
(I whipped up this logo for the announcement and is not final.) This is also partly a school project.
mini thread 1/3
While this update does not directly affect me as I do not own a cut of PLS DONATE whatsoever, the update is still really unthoughtful and it does not make any sense for Roblox to enable donation games directly in 2022 by changing their Terms of Service for specifically that purpose, then now switch up and add a new system with a ridiculously low limit and locking it behind a paywall. There's players who live in countries with ridiculously low minimum wages, people whose parents can barely afford any food for the month, those people will not even be able to get any Robux without a linked parent account, let alone even be able to receive any Robux since they do not have spare $5 every single month.
Adding clothes would also be extremely inconvenient, as there are low rate limits, you need Plus (again) to keep your clothes onsale and it also costs around 10 Robux per clothing asset to be uploaded in the first place. The only solution there is, is to revert the update entirely. As Hazem stated in his own statement, this would affect PLS DONATE if the update launches with the current plan. When I talked to Roblox Staff directly, I have criticized all of those points too. Commission earnings (donations) are usually a substantial part of social hangout game earnings (approx. 30%+), so I also feel sorry for Neighbors, Mic Up and every other affected game.
