@TimmyMallett In NE Scotland we say ‘Stumping the peat’ . My grandmothers cousin lived on a croft at New Pitsligo. Below a photo of her husband carting home the peats. We still burn it in winter.

@KirstieMAllsopp @kimleadbeater My father was a Burma veteran, death didn’t scare him but he said some ways were preferable to others. He wanted choice, he deserved dignity. 7 weeks before he died he said ‘ you would be prosecuted for treating an animal like this’ and yes he had palliative care - it was hell.
