Syarikat teknologi seperti Nvidia, Apple dan Alphabet (Google) mendominasi carta teratas sebagai syarikat terbesar di negara itu.

Berbeza dengan Malaysia, lima syarikat perbankan berada dalam senarai 10 syarikat paling besar dari sudut modal pasaran.

Perbezaan ini menunjukkan Malaysia masih lagi ketinggalan dari sudut pembangunan teknologi, yang bertunjangkan Sains, Teknologi, Kejuruteraan dan Matematik (STEM). Sebahagian besar syarikat paling bernilai di Malaysia juga mempunyai teras perniagaan yang lebih konvensional, seperti perbankan, tenaga, perladangan dan logistik.

Di Amerika Syarikat, kemajuan STEM telah membantu negara itu menghasilkan pelbagai syarikat yang 'disruptive', sekaligus mewujudkan banyak syarikat-syarikat bernilai tinggi.

Namun apa yang berlaku di Malaysia bukanlah situasi terpencil. Di Singapura, majoriti syarikat-syarikat paling bernilai di negara itu juga terlibat dalam industri-industri konvensional seperti perbankan, telekomunikasi dan pertanian.

World Cup 2030 is on the horizon, Does the end truly justify the means? SHAPE UP or SHIP OUT!

The sustainability of our national team project hinges on performance-based strategies and the nurturing of homegrown talent. I am eager to see how these two elements can harmonise as we prepare for the World Cup.

With the tournament approaching, our homegrown players must elevate their skills and meet the high standards expected on the global stage. Bridging this gap will be vital for our first eleven when they step onto the field during the World Cup matches.

So, how can we unite everyone toward this common goal without getting lost in politicking? While having a “Silvio Berlusconi” in every state would be fantastic, more realistically, we need executive leaders who genuinely support our football enthusiasts and their aspirations. Together, we can enhance our football ecosystem.

If we don’t take the right steps, this initiative risks becoming just another version of the ‘TPPA.’ While qualifying for the World Cup may be within reach, it could jeopardise the raison d’être of our local football landscape as we rely on local operators to align with our “evolving national identity.”

Ultimately, it comes down to how we perceive this project. Is it merely a football initiative, or is it something greater? I believe this endeavour should act as a booster shot for our entire local football ecosystem, empowering us to leverage our strengths and elevate our game as we move forward. Every segment needs to level up, including the fans!
