The climate chapter of the World Inequality Report 2026 reiterates the fact that those who contribute the least to climate change often bear its greatest burdens.

That insight should widen our lens. Mountain economies and highland communities rarely feature prominently in global inequality debates, yet they embody some of the most resilient models of sustainable living. Through stewardship of water systems, forests, biodiversity and fragile landscapes, they provide ecological value far beyond their economic weight.

A more durable climate response may depend not only on cutting emissions, but also on recognising and rewarding communities that have long protected natural systems. In that sense, mountain regions are not peripheral to the climate conversation. They may hold part of the answer.

Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) to the mountain communities , missing in all the global climate reports, should take priority over the cosmetic emission cutting pledges.

While performing Tawaf around the Ka‘bah with his family, a man suddenly collapsed to the ground and in that sacred moment, his soul returned to its Lord.

A wife beside him… a child in his arms… perhaps a family from India, on what began as the journey of a lifetime.

The results of the recent state elections have been dramatic by any measure.

But for me, this image will remain the most unforgettable outcome of the elections.

More than 166,000 votes were cast between the two leading candidates in this constituency in Tamil Nadu.

And history was changed by just one vote.

This image should be shown in every school in the country & perhaps around the world.

So that every child understands that when they grow up, the greatest power they may possess is the Power of One.
