I agree, but the exact same thing happened in 1997!
The N64 needed something big to compete with the PS1. Ocarina of Time was delayed, and then Diddy Kong Racing came out of nowhere. DKR was revealed on August 28, 1997 and it was out on November 21, 1997. Nobody knew it existed until three months before it was out, and it had to carry the entire holiday season for Nintendo. Multiple games were delayed that year, so Nintendo spent a huge chunk of their yearly marketing budget promoting DKR. The marketing blitz was ridiculous... and it worked. DKR was the fastest-selling game ever (at the time) and it somehow garnered 800,000 pre-orders in an era where people didn't really pre-order games.
Nintendo has a history of delaying Zelda games, and they have a history of pulling surprise hits out of their ass when nobody's expecting it.
That's true, but we don't know the extent of this remake with respect to new content and mechanics. Is the map going to be the same size as in the original Ocarina, or is it going to be more in line with Breath of the Wild? In any regard, Nintendo will happily delay a game if they think it will make it better in the long run. They are very protective of their flagship Zelda games, and rightfully so.
No. Marcia didn't keep anyone on a leash. The movie was a mess until George fired John Jympson. He then spent weeks editing the movie himself before a new team (with his wife) took over. He was especially meticulous when it came to dialogue scenes. When the new team took over, he worked alongside them and micromanaged everything. Although he took no formal on-screen credit, he was extremely involved in the editing process.
This sounds so fake. So the movie is set in Alabama, and Forrest was raised in Alabama, but Tom Hanks wasn't going to have a Southern accent? And then they cast a kid who had a drawl even though Tom Hanks wasn't going to be speaking with one? Did Sally Field and all of the other actors have to change their accents too?
@mrmidas2k@SeanRossSapp This is like Rambo all over again:
1982 - First Blood
1985 - Rambo: First Blood Part II
1988 - Rambo III
Where the heck is Rambo 2!?
Nobody asked them to get political? A lot of very powerful people asked companies to get political. Passive equity firms were throwing their weight around in what Larry Fink described as an effort to "force change." DEI policies were a condition to the liquidity services offered by these large firms.
@Stealth40k Combined with the Wii U version, MK8 sales are north of 79 million. That's close to the 82.9 million that Wii Sports sold, and there's a very real possibility that it overtakes it to become the best selling Nintendo game ever. Amazing.
@GrappleClips Interesting. The Rockers and the Rougeaus both won the tag belts from the Hart Foundation, but neither win was acknowledged.
What's next? Are we going to discover that the Killer Bees, Los Conquistadores, and the Jumping Bomb Angels also beat the Hart Foundation for the belts?
@1ostsinner@wrestling_VI After the match, he was in a bunch of vignettes showing him being arrested and taken to jail. They likely increased his pay since he had to do all the heavy lifting after the match was over.
@wcwcrowbar They obviously took fashion advice from Lord Humungous from the Road Warrior.
It's often said that Demolition took inspiration from the Road Warriors tag team, but they borrowed more heavily from the Road Warrior film.
