Dec. 1, 1958, the Our Lady of the Angels fire occurred in Chicago. While the origin is still speculative, the outcome was tragic. We often see (as recent as yesterday) horrifying incidents in schools involving violence. But, let’s not diminish fire risks. Remain ever vigilant.
The is often the riskiest times for fire. Last week was 58 years since Golden Age Nursing Home fire in Ohio & next week is the 63rd year since the OLA school fire in Chicago. History often repeats. Preplanning & inspections can make a difference. Stay safe out there.

Spent the afternoon wandering around Frederick, MD. I couldn’t help it. I had to photograph the FDC with missing caps. Once a fire inspector, always a fire inspector, I guess.
@twospirits@FDNY Some guy blocked the hydrant in front of my place the other day. I couldn’t help saying something to him. “Where am I supposed to park, he said. I told him, “The parking space 10 feet behind your truck!” It’s tough being a retired firefighter sometimes. #CommonSense
