On Wednesday, Firelands Electric took a dozen students from local high schools on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Cardinal Power Plant in Brilliant, Ohio. One of the cleanest coal-fired plants in the world, Cardinal has invested $1.2 billion in environmental-control equipment, including scrubbers that remove more than 90% of the plant's sulfur dioxide emissions.
