This points to something I've been saying for a while now. "Black" people need to pick a lane and stop thinking they can have everything.

If you want to deal in the language of racial animosity and revenge, then you don't get to expect "white" people to like you or want to be around you.

If you want "white" people to embrace and accept you, then you need to let the racial identity talk and revenge talk go no matter how much you think you have a legitimate grievance.

But you can't have both.

The fact that you actually think this is a reasonable story says a lot. Even if they believed some ridiculous story about being attacked by a racist, when they got there, it was quite obvious that that was not so.

I always tend to attribute this to the fact that Japanese are, by and large, very polite people with strong rules about etiquette and polite conversation.

This is very conducive to a peaceful and tranquil society. Indeed, it's something I very much love about the Japanese.

However, it also leaves one very vulnerable to people who are willing to exploit that politeness to achieve their own ends.

Paradoxically, to defend that polite society is going to require some very impolite people.
