Before the Corps. Before Oa. There was Alan Scott.
We even covered EVERYTHING about him way back on ep 137 in 2012, so yeah… we go back a bit!
Have you ever actually read his origin, or do you mostly know the later stuff?

Read the new FIRESTORM #1 and it was FANTASTIC!
Gorgeous art & clearly Jeff Lemire knows his Firestorm history. Echoes of Blank Slate & Elemental angry god eras. Also love to the original series and Ronnie Raymond, which I enjoyed quite a bit.
Looking forward to more!

Jedidiah is fascinating! Do you think the nickname “Jedi” is too on the nose, or just right? And why is he called human, not alien, in the script? Did Simonson take liberties with the character?
Join us Monday May the 4th on EMPIRE TO JEDI for #StarWars #49!
I always hoped I would get to meet him in person someday. I really regret that I never did. I don’t usually feel this sad when celebrities pass, since I don’t truly know them, but Gerry was different. He was one of the greats, and he was always kind to me. He will be missed.
He was always open about both his successes and his struggles, and he had a sharp, easy charm. After the interviews, we would often just talk about raising kids and everyday life. He was also very thoughtful, even sending me signed items from his collection just to be nice.
As for Gerry himself, he was incredibly kind and generous. I interviewed him 7 times for different blogs and podcasts. The fact that he put up with me that many times says a lot about his patience and his big heart.
Some of you know I spent years cheering on one of Gerry’s creations, Firestorm. I’ve said most of what I have to say about his work through my FIRESTORM FAN website over 7 years, and the AQUAMAN & FIRESTORM: THE FIRE AND WATER PODCAST over 8 years.
Gerry Conway’s work inspired comic readers for generations, and it still reaches people today through big budget movies, shows, and more. Others will write better tributes about his work. I just want to focus on my own personal interactions with him.
Walt Simonson and Tom Palmer kick off their #StarWars run with this KAPOW moment! This page just blows us into hyperspace!
