This is unbelievable and speaks to how misinformation and disinformation is used to manipulate the public to elicit emotive responses to lies.

Clare O’Neil was criticised by a supposed “Anti-Corruption Institute” over a million-dollar investment portfolio.

This is false information and has been deliberately manufactured to discredit O’Neil.

None of the information that has materialised online with regard to these so-called claims are true - and yet O’Neil is being vilified because of these lies by people deliberately driving this narrative and those who believe the bullshyte.

This is the society that we now live in - where malicious lies driven by likely vested interests are created and spread across mediums that are used to manipulate and coerce large groups of people into believing that their sources are legitimate. Those who are being manipulated will not bother to fact check these false claims - and that is what the creators of this defamatory rubbish are counting on.

The dumbing down of our society is becoming easier. It relies on those who are for the most part relying on the instant connection of their devices and information that social media and online so-called news services provide. Laziness prevails and critical thinking skills are lost - if they were ever there at all.

Lies, misinformation and disinformation rely on the emotive responses of certain targeted sections of the community. They are generally the least educated and the most likely to believe without question and spread this rubbish.

Who was it who once said that he loved the uneducated while also saying that the educated hated him.

Pauline Hanson standing up at the Australian Energy Producers Conference to unveil her new oil and gas policy says it all really.

She’s in a room with like-minded folk who all want the same thing as Hanson’s benefactor, Rinehart. Profits and a government that will not stand in the way of that profit with pesky policies and legislation that will penalise them in any way.

Pauline says she’s a special politician because she’s listening to energy companies and what they want. 🙄

I’m not sure Pauline’s auditory skills equate to the finer points of listening to her constituents, communities and ordinary folk who don’t benefit from the rising costs of energy and resources… but I’m pretty sure she’s across the active social media campaigns that continue to spread misinformation and disinformation with regard to an anti-renewable agenda.

Pauline sounded legitimate, organised and professional when she foghorned her new policy to her avid listeners. I suppose reading from a speech someone specifically prepared for her earlier would do that.

.. but if you aren’t listening carefully enough you will miss the fine print.

Pauline says that she wants to replace the Petroleum Resource Rent Tax with a ‘commonwealth royalty on wellhead value’.

Sounds feasible…

Until you realise that Pauline Hanson is talking about FUTURE offshore oil and gas production.

So in effect, all existing arrangements will ultimately be protected - and would be able to carry on their operations without any restrictions or interference from any potential “government” that Hanson might be a part of.

Protectionism of existing companies - without any commitment to or prospect of new fossil fuel projects that might at some point in the future offer some recompense to those Australians that Pauline claims to be standing up for.

This is a two-fold “Pauline Policy” because it is a given that the fossil fuel industry are already aware of their use-by date and the push towards renewables. They want to shore up their existing arrangements. They are not concerned about any future prospects - which is very telling.

Sounds like Pauline Hanson is too busy standing up for mining and fossil fuel companies to stand up for the battlers that she tells us she really does stand up for.

.. and the numpties fall for it. Every time.
