Good evening everyone.

This day many decades ago an idea started to form. An idea of a united Europe free from it's constant wars and in a constant state of economic improvement. Today what seemed like a pipe dream at most has now become a hopeful future for many people such as you and me and continues to progress towards that goal. Despite Europe's numerous hurdles that still need to be overcome this day is a reminder of why such challenges aren't as impossible as they seem and that hope for a better future still exists and it will take a lot more for it to be crushed. Even as our enemies are at our gates like the Huns of the ancient times and our enemies see us as a meer chessboard for their ambitions I'd like to remind you all that we have overcome far worse odds than that.

To conclude let's ignore our woes for just today and appreciate the progress we have made together not as strangers but as brothers.
