Crisis Brewing in ‘Ayodhya of South’

The Sangh Parivar activists call it the ‘Ayodhya of South’. But for ages, it has been known as Thiruparankundram, less than 10 km from Madurai in Tamil Nadu. The place derives its name from Lord Murugan – thiru (venerable) paran (referring to Lord Murugan), and kundram (hill). The ‘sacred hill’ is no longer what it used to be – a place where both Hindus and Muslims prayed in their respective worship places, and at each other’s holy places too.

It has become a hotspot of tension. The Sangh Parivar elements have been stoking communal fire. As the State Assembly elections are drawing nearer, the whole issue is assuming political overtones, with rival parties trying to cater to their vote bank, adding fuel to the fire. Bihar's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voters' list and Rahul Gandhi's allegations of its manipulation by the election commission of India to help BJP win elections have turned into a major political issue that have united all the opposition parties.

The matter is no more confined to the Supreme Court and legal procedures. The opposition has decided to hit the road to force the commission's hands to order a comprehensive probe into the allegation across the country.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi along with several other opposition leaders took out a protest march on Monday from Parliament House to the Election Commission office against the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar and manipulation of voters list as alleged by Rahul but they were stopped midway by the police and detained.

The Airline Pilots' Association of India (ALPA) has categorically rejected the 'unsigned and unattributed' inquiry report on the Ahmedabad air crash this past June 'leaked to the media by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.'
"As the tone and direction of the investigation suggests a bias towards pilot error, the ALPA categorically rejects this presumption and insists on a fair, fact-based inquiry,'' the ALPA said in a post on X.

It said a July 10 a report in the Washington Post referred to inadvertent movement of the control switches and questioned how such sensitive investigation details were leaked to international media.
The report refers to serviceability bulletin concerning fuel control gates, which indicates a potential equipment malfunction, the post said, demanding to know whether the recommendations outlined in the bulletin were implemented before the flight.
