The $900 Armored Core Speedrun Bounty starts NOW.
Please check out the two new posts on SRC to learn how to participate https://t.co/RTOPqDNnrj
You don't need to set a new world record. You just need to have the fastest time submitted from July 1st to July 31st.
#ARMOREDCORE
@PailCon Like Celt suggested, you can also try some dueling. Exposure to a format you're not 100% familiar with can also be refreshing. There's a few fairly strong bros in the AC Discord willing to engage if the KR bros don't have a lot of duelists.
@PailCon When I run into this issue, I have to really force myself to just let it go if I feel like I want to play the game. If I can't, I have to take a hiatus and just invest my time in other games or hobbies. Time off can give you a good mental refresh and some different perspectives.
This is an official announcement for the Armored Core PlayStation 1 Speedrun Bounty.
The following posts in this thread will include all the rules necessary for participating. Please read each post carefully and feel free to ask any additional questions.
@SolidShrimp@exceedorbit@InPlasticWrap Surely a veteran wouldn't turn down an actual challenge, right? Surely you aren't just delusional and will keep backtracking and shifting around, right? Surely you aren't afraid of a little real pvp to prove you're someone who knows ball, right? Come on, boot up. PS3 or PCVD.
@SolidShrimp@exceedorbit@InPlasticWrap If you want to cry about your own victim complex then boot up ACVD, my preferred title, and come get turned into an actual victim. People will be more willing to care if you're willing to actually prove anything at all and stand on business.
@exceedorbit@SolidShrimp@InPlasticWrap Like if they would just check your (val) page it's not hard to figure out you're someone who actually knows what's up. Doubling down on snark and insistence in their other replies just makes it harder and less likely for the people who actually know and want to help show up.
@exceedorbit@SolidShrimp@InPlasticWrap Kind of fruitless since this Shrimp person seems in love with the imaginary version in their head instead of the actual game. You don't need to rebind anything. People have been playing at insane levels on default since before most of these misinfo merchants knew about AC.
@kuraishi_af44@exceedorbit Unfortunately I'm actually not the guy for this. NA was really underdeveloped beyond just knowing what weapons/tunes were good. Team comps were basically freestyle. You might have better luck asking some of the JP bros since they had a more competitive playerbase.
Lack of turn speeds and camera/lock-on systems 'doing too much work for the player' also seem like a real turn-off for me. Obviously I don't have hands-on time with a lot of these, and I'm happy that people are getting out there and making stuff, these are just some observations.
I see a lot of mecha indie games popping up on my feed and most of them just don't seem to have a good "gravity" to them. There's a lot of weight and transfer that's missing from the movements, 'boosts' seem to be instant and 'jerky' with no inertia, etc.
Go get humbled, get taken out of your comfort zone. Get beat down, get reshaped, get informed. Learn how to learn, learn how to grow, learn what actually makes things tick.
Plenty of newcomers across every gen and PvP has never been more accessible in the older games than now.
Still trying to catch up on different things and get them in order but on the resurfacing AC discourse -
Get out of the PvE bubble and go fight the people who made the same kind of legends for themselves as the ones you see in the stories.
Learn how to carve out your own.
@exceedorbit I think this is something true for a lot of competitive titles. Understanding that the concepts are there is entirely different from being able to execute and experience those concepts first hand. It's important to be able to to separate the paper expectations from hands on play.
We now live in a time where you can play every generation of Armored Core online with your friends. I beseech you, please give it a try! I want everyone to play Armored Core. We have the resources and the community. Now is the best time to get involved and experience these games.
