99% of loglines I read don't make it clear:
- What's new or unique about this movie.
- What's the engine for fun, thrills, drama or laughs.
- Who the movie is for.
Worry less about the format. Who, what, where, and why is the easy part.
Worry more about getting THE CONCEPT right.
That's what gets people excited.
A project's logline can be shared 100x over the phone and in emails. It will get mangled each time.
If it keeps going, it is because what survives each time is the concept.
That clear, concise idea that generates great scenes.
No amount of tinkering will save a logline if the clear concept isn't there.
Ok here’s the secret to getting films made.
Never give up.
All the no’s are just fuel to me to prove those that said no were wrong.
I say no often because I can’t do them all. But I hope I’m wrong because I want everyone to succeed. The more movies that are made the better for the business as some will surely be hits.
@GrahamCoffeyDC This is the exact opposite of the Takeaways. #9 beat #8. #10 beat #7 and #2. #4 shut out and lost worst than #12 did to the same team. Clearly the rankings weren't an accurate reflection. We want to see things settled on the field
James Madison scored 34 against Oregon and lost by 17. Texas Tech was shutout and lost by 23.
The narrative that G5 champs don’t belong in the CFP is dead and buried.
@DanWolken And the flip side, a lot of great teams and coaches that were viewed as “chokers” because they lost a game and got left behind in a 2 or 4 team format would have won national titles if there was a 12-team format
USC literally played with 70% freshman on the depth chart. TCU basically played their full 2025 starting roster.
USC played pound for pound exchanged blow for blow. They played tough. USC has so much young talent on this roster and more coming in for 2026. The future is VERY bright for USC. The best is yet to come. We’re on the right path ✌️
Is it just me or are a lot of teams from that one conference losing to teams they would’ve beaten hypothetically ??? I could’ve sworrrrrnnnnn were told every year how all of these teams would win in any other conference … Surely it’s because “they don’t care” about these games and opt outs, but we were told their 2s are stars in any other conference as well 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫 oh boy, I grew dizzy and fell over in the kitchen trying to make it make sense lol been a rough bowl season so far! Wondering when it begins to mean more 👀
@OregonHomer Other decades didn’t have a playoff where 12 teams make it including teams that don’t even make a conference game what are we talking about
May sound easy to you.
If the committee leaves out the SEC title game loser for 2 teams that didn't play, that's probably the end of the SEC title game.
1. We are not a "white" country. We are a diverse, multiracial one. 2. Regardless of Simu's personal intentions, making movies and TV for your diverse audience both domestic and international is just good business
Any pretense that this is a valid position or complaint completely evaporates when you imagine the absurdity of a white European/American national moving to China, having a white child in China, wherein that white child grows up and starts demanding Chinese studios represent his white European/American demographic so other whites in china can “see themselves represented in the characters on screen.”
People feel this entitlement when it comes to white countries because we validate absurdities in white countries due to this dubious and self-imposed collective blood guilt.
So I’ve seen some backlash against “write your spec” on this device lately. And as a big proprietor of the movement (I mean — it’s my hashtag) I thought I would share a story with you all.
And I promise you it’s not going where you think it’s going.
People are looking for good scripts. I cannot stress this enough. Big directors, actors tired of playing the same role. Get your work out there, take risks & watch what happens.
So one of the things that I’ve come to accept in my chosen profession is that you can never, ever relax and stop fighting.
Breaking in as a screenwriter is hard.
And it’s hard to stay in once you’re in.
You have to keep fighting, keep writing, and coming up with new stuff all of the time.
Occasionally (but rarely) the phone will ring with something cool.
But most of the time it’s hustle hustle hustle. Create create create. Write write write.
Never take success for granted.
Work hard so that you can work hard.
The moment you stop, so does your career.
So keep fighting.
Keep writing.
Keep creating.
For ever.
Oregon Post-Game Thoughts:
1. Oregon was the better overall team tonight. They deserved the win.
2. Special Teams was absolutely killer for us. Some changes need to be made.
3. We are 8-3, on track to finish 9-3. This program is still headed in the right direction. We are bringing in elite talent. We have built an elite front office. This takes time.
4. Our team fought and battled all game. Never gave up.
5. Our trenches really struggled tonight. Can't win big games if you can't win the trenches.
6. Not having some of our guys really hurt tonight.
7. The season is not over. Beat the Bruins. Win the Bowl Game. Prepare for next season. Fight On.✌
