We are watching Wednesday closely for a potential severe weather threat in Illinois. Storm mode, wave timing, and early-day storms remain in question, but this dynamic of a system in June always raises eyebrows for possible severe storms. Stay tuned!
Temperatures will fall quickly once the sun sets amid a clearing sky. Overnight lows will push into the low 50s--if not upper 40s for some--despite a few passing clouds after 3-4AM. A refreshing night ahead!
7:13PM - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for portions of Whiteside, Henry, and Bureau Counties in Northwestern Illinois. This isolated storm may be able to produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail as it moves East at about 20 mph.
Ironman racers and spectators are in for a real treat tomorrow as it will remain very cool for June standards, near ideal race conditions! No rain expected, with highs creeping through the 60s amid a moderate Northwest wind. Good luck to all the competitors!
4:32PM - This cluster has matured into a thunderstorm, producing a few lightning strikes between Amboy and Rochelle. Storm motion is still generally to the East at around 20-30 mph. Remember "when thunder roars, go indoors!"
4:15PM - A new isolated cluster of showers has developed across Lee County, moving East at around 20-30 mph. No lightning has developed yet, but may be possible over the next hour or two.
This isolated storm has developed just Northwest of Rochelle over the last 20 minutes. While not showing signs of intensifying, it did produce one bolt of lightning. A brief shower and possibly an isolated clap of thunder will be the main products of this storm in the near term.
Scattered thunderstorms will be possible tomorrow, primarily after 3-4PM. Breezy Southwest winds will work to bring in moisture ahead of a cold front, which will initiate those storms. A few may be strong to severe with some instances of damaging winds and large hail possible.
[6:55PM] A new severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Eastern parts of Ogle and Lee Counties along with DeKalb County until 7:45PM. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts as it moves East-Northeast at 45 mph.
Severe thunderstorm warning has expired for Winnebago, Boone, northeast Ogle and northwest DeKalb counties. It remains in effect for McHenry and northeast DeKalb counties until 7:15pm. @MyStateline
6PM: As for our heavy rainfall, we have seen several locations receive between 1-2" of rain today with additional heavy rain still moving in. Flash flood warnings stretch across far Northern IL and parts of Southern WI through this evening. Don't drive across flooded roadways!

5:35PM: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Eastern Rock and Walworth Counties in Southern Wisconsin until 6:15PM. This storm is producing very heavy rainfall and may produce 60 mph wind gusts. Storm movement is to the Northeast at 55 mph.
4:35pm: FLASH FLOOD WARNING for southeast Green and western Rock counties in southern Wisconsin until 7:45pm. An additional 1-2 inches of rain is possible, on top of the already 1-1.5 inches that has already fallen. @MyStateline

This storm near the Ogle/Lee County line will be capable of producing some stronger wind gusts around 50 mph. Will continue to watch for further strengthening. @MyStateline
A line of non-severe thunderstorms is currently moving through the region. Biggest impacts will be lightning and heavy downpours. There may be some gusty winds (around 40 mph) in S. WI. @MyStateline
10AM RADAR: Severe storms border us to the West with 60 mph wind gusts possible in Eastern Iowa. This complex of storms has shown signs of weakening but will likely produce 50+ mph winds as it moves into Northern IL. How this will impact the afternoon round of storms is TBD.
7:25PM: A new severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for DeKalb County until 8:30PM. This storm is capable of producing 70 mph wind gusts as it moves to the East at 60 mph. A tornado is also possible, but not imminent at this time.
