This morning at Grace Family Church we shared communion and it was a great reminder that my focus should be on Jesus. It’s great to get a good message and it’s great to fellowship with friends. But Jesus should be the reason I’m coming.

Pastor Hal’s message was from Revelation Chapter 3. Jesus told the Church at Philadelphia that they had been faithful and He would reward them. He told the Church at Laodicea they were lukewarm and that was disgusting to Him.

Just as last week, this message encourages me as a Christian to stand strong for Jesus and not to worry about what the world thinks of us. Our goal should be to be faithful to Jesus and to get rewards and blessings from Him and not the world.

AUSTIN MAN punched a Thompson Austin hotel worker repeatedly after being asked to leave. The case was dismissed by County Attorney Delia Garza, despite several priors.

Isaiah Guzman is 20 and has been charged four times just since March.

A doorbell camera caught him assaulting a woman in her own front yard before throwing a rock through a 4Runner in the driveway.

The next day, he was caught stuffing $181 of merchandise into a backpack at Walmart, fleeing on a bicycle. After being caught, he told asset protection that Walmart is “a multi-billion dollar corporation and could afford to lose $181.”

Bond posted May 6 with a condition of no other criminal activity.

Six days later, an employee at the downtown Thompson Austin asks him to leave. Guzman punches him repeatedly and the victim never fights back or retaliates.

July 30: that assault is dismissed.

Then yesterday, arrested again on four new charges, including interfering with an emergency call. One of the charges was rejected the same day.

Eight charges in five months, with no real consequences.

Alexander Hamilton argued that a national debt, if it is not excessive, would be a national blessing. At $40 trillion dollars and more than 120% of GDP, we are a long way past not excessive.

American has been entirely free of debt exactly once, briefly, in 1835. I’m tired of hearing that balancing the budget is radical while borrowing another trillion a year is treated as the moderate position. It’s time we get serious about our mounting debt.
