Talk of ‘world leading fisheries management’ is utterly meaningless when the MMO licence a massive fleet of foreign owned fly shooters in our waters without first having assessed their sustainability. Destroying coastal livelihoods without a second thought.

@tweedtotyne @vickihird @UKSustain (2) Gvt promised a new allocation system for any new quota 'won' through Brexit but it's a pittance, and for species not useful to the small scale fleet like horse mackerel. So this won't do - we need a new quota system more widely.

@tweedtotyne @vickihird @UKSustain (1) Yes the current quota system is not working for small-scale fleet in the UK, which give us many more jobs-per-fish than the large fleet & land 99% catches into UK ports. (For the large fleet 30% goes abroad).

My proposal is to overhaul the quota system, allowing small-scale fleets more & rewarding sustainable fishing (see Ch5)
