We are strengthening the Kenya–Qatar financial partnership to unlock new investment, accelerate fintech innovation across our two markets, and expand targeted financial collaboration, including in Islamic finance.
In Doha, witnessed the signing of a landmark agreement between the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority and the Qatar Financial Centre in Doha , a milestone that will position our nations as key gateways for capital flows between Africa and the Gulf.
This cooperation will deepen market access, support business expansion, and create opportunities for growth and jobs, a major step in advancing Kenya’s role as a regional financial hub and driving shared prosperity with our partners in Qatar.
Kenya and Qatar share a bond built on friendship, trust, and a shared commitment to peace, prosperity, and progress. Over the years, this relationship has continued to flourish, anchored in our common pursuit of global peace building, strategic investments, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
I accompanied H.E. President @WilliamsRuto for a bilateral meeting with the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where the two leaders reaffirmed the growing partnership between our nations and expressed their commitment to deepen it further for the well-being of our people.
President Ruto appreciated Qatar’s instrumental role in championing peace across East Africa and the Great Lakes region, acknowledging the country’s pivotal diplomatic efforts. In return, His Highness congratulated Kenya for its steadfast leadership in promoting peace and stability within the region and beyond. Both leaders noted with concern the deteriorating situation in Sudan, and underscored the urgent need for heightened international awareness and collective action to prevent further loss of life.
On investments, President Ruto commended the newly forged partnership between Kenya Airways and Qatar Airways, and extended an invitation to the Qatari government and private sector to explore opportunities in Kenya’s aviation infrastructure, including the planned modernization of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, as well as in other national infrastructure projects.
In the field of agriculture, President Ruto invited Qatari investors to utilize 2.5 million acres of land available for large-scale irrigation farming, an initiative that would boost food security for both nations and expand export capacity.
His Highness the Emir expressed keen interest in Kenya’s investment landscape, and appointed a high-level delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Qatar Investment Authority to visit Nairobi and explore these opportunities further.
President Ruto also appointed me to lead the Kenyan team that will engage with our Qatari counterparts to strengthen investment relations and accelerate the frameworks for deeper cooperation between our two nations.
The contribution of Kenyans in the Diaspora has become a cornerstone of our nation’s economic growth, creating employment opportunities for millions and generating over KES 700 billion in annual remittances.
While in Doha, Qatar, together with H.E. President @WilliamsRuto, we had a warm interaction with a section of our fellow Kenyans living and working there. I reflected on how these remittances have now become Kenya’s single largest source of foreign income, surpassing the combined earnings from tea, coffee, flowers, and tourism.
I encouraged our brothers and sisters abroad to continue working diligently, upholding integrity, and serving as true ambassadors of our great nation in their daily engagements.
I also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges posed by rogue employment agencies, ensuring that every Kenyan seeking opportunities abroad does so through legitimate, transparent, and secure channels.
Furthermore, I informed the Kenyans in Qatar that the government is actively engaging with multiple countries to strengthen labour migration agreements, with the goal of expanding access to decent, well-paying, and dignified job opportunities for our citizens across the world.
Hosted a strategic dialogue with senior officials from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (@UNODC), a powerful conversation that underscored our shared resolve to strengthen justice, enhance security, and deliver quality public service.
Kenya’s partnership with UNODC continues to make a tangible difference, from improving prison health and speeding up trials through the PLEAD Programme, to strengthening border management and pioneering methadone treatment services in correctional facilities. These are real outcomes that touch lives and make our justice system more responsive and humane.
I reaffirmed Kenya’s unwavering commitment to regional and global cooperation, including our active engagement in peacekeeping, leadership on cybercrime legislation, and pursuit of strategic candidatures to key UN commissions.
I was also delighted to welcome Mr. Ali Farouk Elbereir to his new role as Regional Representative for Eastern Africa, and I look forward to working closely with him to advance our mutual goals.
Together, we are building stronger institutions, protecting lives, upholding the rule of law, and delivering justice that serves the public good.
H.E. (Dr.) Musalia W. Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary & CS for Foreign & Diaspora Affairs, has received the Innovation in Digital Public Service Delivery Award for Kenya’s DIIMS system — a milestone in serving Kenyans abroad. 👏 #DIIMS#Innovation#KenyaIn2055
A proud moment for Kenya as I received the Innovation in Digital Public Service Delivery Award from PS Roseline Njogu, recognizing the groundbreaking Diaspora Integrated Information Management System (DIIMS), a platform transforming how Kenyans abroad access government services.
This continental recognition, presented during the 6th Africa Public Sector Conference in Cape Town, is not just a trophy. It is a powerful testament to the ingenuity, commitment, and resilience of the remarkable team at the State Department for @Diaspora_KE.
I salute their unwavering dedication to delivering excellence and urge them to build on this momentum as we continue strengthening the bridge between our nation and its diaspora community.
My appreciation goes to PS @roselinenjogu and her team for their visionary leadership and for championing innovations such as Mobile Consular Services, ensuring government remains close to Kenyans, no matter where they are in the world.
The Kenya Kwanza administration remains steadfast in advancing financial inclusion, expanding market access, and promoting value addition as key pillars of our national economic transformation agenda.
A digitally empowered government is central to this vision, it strengthens transparency, enforces accountability, and ensures that public resources are efficiently directed to where they’re needed most.
I joined fellow leaders in Mbeere South, Embu County, for a meaningful engagement with the community, reaffirming our shared commitment to grassroots empowerment. Together, we are working to equip our people with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities they need to grow sustainable enterprises, unlock dignified jobs, and uplift livelihoods across the country.
As leaders, we must embrace our roles with humility and integrity, always guided by respect for the people and a deep commitment to national unity. Let us speak to Kenyans with decency, lead with purpose, and invest in nurturing a new generation of leaders, ones who rise above tribal lines and personal gain, and who champion inclusivity, cohesion, and shared prosperity.
We envision a government that listens, responds, and acts, anchored in constitutional values and driven by the voices of its citizens. Constructive feedback is not just welcome, it is essential to shaping a future that works for all.
