People always tell me how strong I am.

What they don’t understand is that strength usually comes from learning early that if you don’t carry yourself through life, nobody else will.

And yes, I’ve had people who claimed to “cherish” me before.
But somewhere along the line, caring turned into controlling.
Protection turned into jealousy.
Love started feeling more like ownership than partnership.

So maybe that’s why I’ve spent most of my life in survival mode instead of softness.

But I still believe there are people out there who can love someone without trying to cage them.

I just never met many of them.
