I spend more time in dirty clothes than I do in clean clothes.

In these dirty clothes, I work. I think. I produce. I sell. I make decisions. I build my business. I get my hands dirty because that is what my work requires.

When I wear clean clothes, I’m probably going to church, attending a program, meeting someone, or going somewhere that requires me to look presentable.

And interestingly, that is when people tend to respect you more.

But put me on my farm in dirty clothes and some people will look at me differently.

Sometimes I greet people on the farm and they walk past me. Some even ask, “Who is in charge of this farm?”

And I have to say, “It’s me.”

There is a Yoruba saying that talks about how people are perceived by the way they dress. But I believe we need to be careful about applying that mindset to everyone.

You cannot always judge a person by the clothes they are wearing.

Some people are dirty because they are working.

Some people are sweating because they are building something.

Some people don’t look successful because they are busy creating success.

The farmer may be covered in mud.
The mechanic may have grease on his hands.
The fisherman may smell of fish.
The factory worker may have stains on his clothes.

But behind those dirty clothes could be a business owner, an employer, an entrepreneur, or someone creating livelihoods for many other people.

So, the next time you see someone looking rough or dirty, don’t be too quick to look down on them.

Sometimes, the clothes are dirty because the person is busy doing important work.

Respect people for who they are and what they contribute not just for how clean their clothes look.

Because sometimes, the person in the dirtiest clothes is the one doing the most important work.

₦17.5M car vs ₦17.5M fish-smoking oven.

In 2023, I spent ₦17.5 million building a 10-ton firewood smoker oven.

Today, building the same oven would cost over ₦35 million and that same oven is still working and making me money.

Then, in December 2024, I bought a specially modified 2014 Toyota Camry for ₦17.5 million. After about 18 months, its trade-in value was put at around ₦8 million.

One was an asset. The other was depreciating.

This is why I always tell young people: don’t be too quick to spend your first serious money on things that only give you temporary enjoyment.

Your first money is a seed.

“The forest is inside the seed.”

Don’t consume the seed before it becomes a forest.

Invest first. Build something that makes money. Then let the money buy you the things you desire.

I am not preaching theory. I am speaking from my own experience.

What we have achieved in seven years is unprecedented in the history of our dear State, but we remain focused on doing even more.

As we continue to build a more prosperous Ogun State, we will keep investing in housing and urban development because we believe that every family deserves the opportunity to live in a decent environment and every community deserves the infrastructure required to thrive.
