Two alleged scammers, including a man who posed as a San Francisco 49ers player, have been accused of defrauding 26 women out of $1.3 million through an investment scheme, according to federal authorities.
Federal prosecutors charged Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. The FBI arrested them at Boise Airport on Aug. 24.
Prosecutors say Love met women online and through dating apps while posing as a wealthy investor and NFL player. He allegedly introduced them to Chan, who posed as his financial adviser, to gain their trust and convince them to invest large amounts of money.
Authorities say the pair used fake investments and bank accounts to make the scheme appear legitimate before allegedly disappearing with the victims’ money.
Love’s Instagram features photos of him wearing 49ers gear, including a football helmet.
