As the decor around town begins to change from red, green and gold to purple, green and gold, I am reminded that Epiphany is the Thanksgiving of Louisiana. It gets trampled and forgotten as the cultural momentum excitedly rushes to the holiday season that follows. #MardiGras
I’m convinced that Louisiana has it figured out: in these “post-Christmas” weeks of darkness and cold, when most of the country falls into a general depression, Louisianans say, “It’s Mardi Gras season! Laissez le bon temps rouler!”
My son asked me why the background singers in The Lion King’s “Circle of Life” kept singing Victor Wembenyama’s name over and over.
And now I can’t hear it any other way.

Someone help me- I’ve heard Kamala Harris pronounced 10 different ways on the news the past couple days. What is the correct pronunciation?
KAHmala?
KaMAHla?
KAmala (like Camelot)?
KaMILLa?
Something different entirely?
PLEASE do not interact with my Facebook profile. It is NOT me. I’m totally locked out. DO NOT send money; I’m not selling anything. Please report it to Facebook as much as you can. Thank you! 🙏🏼
Does anyone have any actual advice on recovering a hacked @facebook account? I’m totally locked out. They changed my email and phone number. They keep posting stuff that looks semi-legit and are scamming lots of people out of money, all while pretending to be me!
Here’s a Louisiana test (South Louisiana, to be specific):
Which fish tastes best?
1. White Perch
2. Sac-a-Lait
3. Crappie
I just learned the correct answer today.
@Benjamminhere Similar to the phenomenon of coming out of a Mission Impossible or James Bond movie and all of a sudden feeling the urge to outdrive people who aren’t even chasing you, in your minivan.
I have a feeling the next round of board meetings in many United Methodist churches will be conducted with a significant increase in proper parliamentary procedure. #umcgc#refreshercourse
@Benjamminhere I completely agree. It was more tongue-in-cheek. The picture I have in mind is an SNL-type sketch with a Methodist pastor strictly adhering to RRoO in various settings where it isn’t needed (potluck, youth retreat, choir rehearsal, etc.).
We know that attending church is sometimes a challenge. We want to change that. Join us as we seek to create a safe space in Lafayette where people of differing abilities can all worship together without the anxiety that can sometimes prevent us from attending a worship service.
