Early in my career I made this mistake. A jeet would ask me for help on the side, promising only a few minutes, then I’d spend over an hour essentially explaining to them how to do their job.

You would think that they would learn and you’d see benefits from being helpful over time, but no, you become a permanent resource they then haggle for more help over time. They never learn, just continue to min-max their output and cut corners religiously.
