@ChampRDS@alexvolkanovski This is why Volk is a fan favorite. Gives respect when it’s due. Sucks to lose your belt to Illia, but it’s okay to respect your opponent’s performance and point out things he did right that got him the W.
Lemme paint the picture for you. I’m glad you brought up Tuivasa.
1. Yes, from a business perspective, they did not want to continue paying a huge salary to an aging champ. Who was 45 at the time of his last fight in the UFC. That’s a 45 year old middleweight.
2. Thank you for bringing up Tuivasa. The reason they keep Tuivasa on the roster currently is because he’s Australian and despite Tuivasa’s record currently, he’s still a fan favorite in Australia. He’s also not a former champ, so he’s not collecting anywhere near a champ salary.
You’re looking at the situation with emotion, instead of in the eyes of business. “How could they do this to Silva!?!?” He was 45 years old that has won 1 singular fight in the span of 7 years. If you think it’s cost effective to continue paying a former *45* year old champion who hasn’t won in years, then so be it. There’s not much to discuss or debate here then. The UFC obviously seen something you did not.
Eventually you’ll come to realize that it was a business decision to let Silva go, not personal, which is what you’re trying to make it out to be. Dana has said that Silva won’t talk to him anymore. Well, you could argue Silva burned his own bridges there. Yeah, he was let go from the roster, but that doesn’t mean the UFC couldn’t have helped him out with him joining the organization and doing commentary work, behind the scenes work, etc.
Hopefully i’m painting a better picture for you.
@Rkfurlife@icebagz_@HappyPunch@RollingStone Bro anyone can go look up Silva’s record in the UFC. From 2013-2020, he won 1 fight in 2017. That’s 7 years with 1 W under his belt. Dana’s point still stands that his time was over in the UFC. Take away the 1 win and he’s on a 7 fight losing streak.
