Kim Se-ui, representative of the YouTube channel HoverLab (Garo Sero Research Institute), who is currently in a legal battle with actor Kim Soo-hyun after broadcasting claims that the late Kim Sae-ron had dated Kim Soo-hyun since she was a minor—which Kim Soo-hyun denies—is set to appear in court on the 26th for a substantive review of his arrest warrant prior to detainment.

According to this paper's investigation, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office requested an arrest warrant on the 19th, stating, "The grounds for applying for an arrest warrant against the suspect (Kim Se-ui, representative of HoverLab) for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (distribution of materials filmed using cameras, etc.) are recognized as substantial."

The warrant review for Representative Kim Se-ui will take place on May 26th at 10:30 AM at the Seoul Central District Court.

Previously, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station, which investigated the case following a complaint filed by Kim Soo-hyun, cited the following reasons for the arrest:

The severity of the crime

The risk of recidivism

Concerns over destruction of evidence and flight risk

Concerns over harm to the victim and key witnesses

In the arrest warrant application submitted to the prosecution on the 14th, the police stated:

"Without verifying the truth, the suspect repeatedly asserted through YouTube broadcasts and press conferences that the complainant (Kim Soo-hyun) dated and had sexual relations with the deceased (Kim Sae-ron) when she was a minor, and that pressure from the complainant's side to clear debts was the cause of the deceased's death."

The police further noted:

"After receiving a KakaoTalk chat screenshot from the bereaved family showing the deceased exchanging messages with a user named 'Unknown,' the suspect inserted the complainant’s photo into the 'Unknown' profile slot and changed the chat partner's name from 'Unknown' to the complainant's name to make it appear as though the conversation actually took place between the complainant and the deceased."

The police emphasized:

"Despite knowing well that the identity of the person the deceased chatted with was unverified, the suspect posted the manipulated KakaoTalk data to make it look like an actual conversation with the complainant, and repeatedly specified false facts, claiming that 'the complainant dated the deceased when she was a minor' and 'the complainant drove the deceased to her death.'"

Furthermore, they stated:

"The suspect broadcast multiple pieces of footage related to the complainant, including a photo taken with a mobile phone showing the complainant washing dishes at the deceased's residence, and exerted psychological pressure by stating, 'If you do not apologize to the bereaved family or state your position, we will additionally release private materials.' Therefore, substantial reasons exist to suspect that the crimes of stating false facts, defamation, and violation of the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation) were committed."

The police also pointed out:

"The suspect, who is currently referred to multiple investigations and trials, is likely well aware of the weight of criminal liability he will bear if he is additionally indicted for this case. There is a high probability that he may act unfaithfully in the criminal proceedings or attempt to flee to evade legal and economic disadvantages."

Donald J. #Trump prende di mira #PapaLeone XIV. E cosi tradisce un disagio profondo. Quando il potere politico si accanisce contro una voce morale, è perché non riesce a contenerla. Trump non discute Leone: lo implora di rientrare in un linguaggio che possa dominare. Ma il Papa parla un’altra lingua, che non si lascia ridurre alla grammatica della forza, della sicurezza, dell’interesse nazionale.

In questo senso, l’attacco è una dichiarazione di impotenza. Non potendo assimilare quella voce, il potere tenta di delegittimarla. Ma così facendo ne riconosce implicitamente il peso. Se Leone fosse irrilevante, non meriterebbe una parola. Invece viene chiamato in causa, nominato, combattuto: segno che la sua parola incide.

È qui che emerge la forza morale della Chiesa. Non come contro-potere, ma come spazio in cui il potere viene giudicato da un criterio che non controlla. Leone non risponde sul terreno della polemica, e proprio per questo resta fuori dalla presa. È libero.

E quella libertà, disarmata e disarmante , è forse ciò che più inquieta. E, nello stesso tempo, ciò che più conta.
