But... but... if Maine changes its seal-on-a-bedsheet flag design, we'll lose out on this incredible opportunity for a 2-for-1 design with Portland's "SOB". #synergy#FlagForPortland#1901flag
#HappyFlagDay ! There's so much (justifiable) discussion going on about changing the Maine State Flag, but we just wanted to remind folks that our fine city is just another example of slap-an-indecipherable-seal-on-a-blue-sheet design, but we can change that too. #FlagForPortland
Think locally, folks. Every hometown in Maine deserves a symbol to be proud of. Want one? We can help.
Top - Great.
Middle - Great.
Bottom - Up to you.

I spy with my little eye some #originalmaineflag design elements popping up in unexpected places. If Portland had and iconic city flag, maybe you’d see some beautiful “Easter eggs” like this popping up around town. #flagforportland
The symbolism is both for Portland's safe seaport, but also the symbolism of a safe and secure port to ride out a storm in any era, including a pandemic. #CityFlagsTourney22
The North American City Flags Tournament is promoting the city flag movement to have city flags that our communities recognize, show community pride, and are flown across the city.
Today we showcased Portland, Maine's effort.

@mtrem2@ME_hometownflag Hopefully Yarmouth can resist slapping the whole logo on a bedsheet and thus creating an inception worthy flag-with-better-flag-on-it scenario. I'm looking at you Milwaukee. #flagsonflags
It’s Flag Day! While officially it’s meant to honor the US flag, this week we are flying another symbol of American freedom, the Juneteenth Flag. Juneteenth commemorates the day slaves were freed in the last holdout state, several months after the end of the Civil War. #FlagDay
They @CityPortland flag isn’t the only banner around town that could use some improvement. @unetweets also uses a “Seal on A Bedsheet” and doubles down with redundant text. Any UNE students or alums want to propose a better design?
@mtrem2@JLevinePWM@CityPortland A simple observation on the value of iconic design:
While most of those "image squares" in the city graphic are fairly generic, the arch from the Portland Museum of Art is instantly recognizable. Hat tip to I.M. Pei.
@mtrem2@bencosgrove Speaking of San Fran, have you seen the reimagined city flag designed by @urbanlifesigns, similarly striving for a balance of aesthetics and preserving unique existing design elements.
I made a new flag for San Francisco… based off the original 1900 flag. @SFfogGoldFlag
A bit different from our current turkey vulture flag (2nd image)
