//Really sorry for slow replies, my life makes it difficult to be on here as often as I'd like. I'll get to my replies here within the next day or two, thank you!
-- the words. His bloody orbs were wild, she could see that same blackness from before, but now it was shifting, pulsing rapidly. Like something wanting to get out.
And then he relaxed, unclenching his fists and leaning back, withdrawing into himself.
"You can guess what I am."
"Sounds fair enough."
He shifted, leaning forward to talk in a more hushed tone.
"You're right, I'll admit it. I'm an old dog, so to speak, but I have persisted through many long years. And many more short ones. I'm not from...here, but I've been stranded for a while. I have--
-- nothing to go back to, but nothing for me here. It's a miserable existence, yet I persist. And I do what I can. Even if it means leaving a few /rotting/ corpses behind me!"
Low was his voice, but it seethed with malice towards the end of his monlogue, almost hissing out --
-- giving a shiver as he felt the burn of the alcohol. Glass met table with a soft thunk, and he resumed his previous posture, eyes blazing as they met hers once again.
"What I do... the way I am... my lifestyle isn't something that people appreciate."
He was trying to choose his words carefully. He didn't want reveal too much about himself until he knew the other was to be trusted. The glass in front of him remained untouched for the moment.--
⥓do you get into that would make the law enforcement follow you so closely?“
Digits wrap around the glass in front of her, bringing it to her lips with an eye still trained on the male.
--
"There have been murders. Its all over the news. The bodies in the alleys and the streets at night. Ripped apart, most of them. Almost always during another crime. Any of this ring a bell?"
Only now did he lift the glass to his lips and down the brown liquor all at once, --
-- the female across from him a look up and down. Evaluating, sizing her up. She was clearly dangerous. Wealthy too, maybe not rich, but has resources. She was also lithe and slim, like a cat. Or a panther. The thought brought on another grin.
"I'm sure you know what I mean."
"I appreciate the help, Ms. Ventrov. And the offer. I might take you up on it. I'll try not to bring trouble with me, but no guarantees. It seems to follow me whether I like it or not."
The dark elf rests his arms on the table, hands together, fingertips touching, and gives --
⥓around any of my establishments. Consider this place somewhere you can hide whenever needed. I'll notify my staff so they're aware to lead away the police should they grow a pair and follow you in"
-- her establishment, but he could hear the police sirens through the bustle of the business.
"I don't want to put your place at risk though. I might be more trouble than I'm worth."
His deep voice ended in a playful tone at that last comment.
He follows her guidance, ever grateful for the escape. He quickly ducks inside the private nook and accepts the offered seat. Once settled in, he gives a relieved sigh.
"Thank you, kind stranger. The last thing I need tonight is /more/ trouble."
There was much noise inside --
-- nodded towards the snowy sidewalk ahead of them. At the end of the street, Zar picked up a local police car making its way towards their location.
"After you of course, miss....?"
His ruby orbs swipe back towards the bar from where he'd emerged, then settled back on her face. The corners of his mouth tugged upwards in a smile, hidden in his ebony beard.
"I doubt I'd be welcome back in. In fact, it's probably best if we get out of here."
He --
His name rolls off her tongue easily with her russian accent
“Zer'roc? Pleased to bump into you, Sir“
Offers a lighthearded comment while her eyes lock with his, caught off guard by their coloring, almost though to her . . . Inviting.
“Can I buy you a drink?“
"I think I'll be okay," he rumbled, rubbing his temple. "Name's Zar'roc."
His outstretched arm relaxed into a greeting, a handshake. At the same time, his eyes met hers for the first time. His were a bloody crimson, with blackened whites that hid a deeper sense of.... something.
Quickly regaining her equilibrium as his hand met with her frame.
“Yes, I'm alright“
The woman looked to the brooding male before a friendly smile curled the corner of her lips.
“Are you? You seem a little dazed, Sir.“
"What the--!"
A soft thud was heard as their bodies connected, the grey man almost trampling the poor woman into the snow.
"S-Sorry..." He muttered, holding his head with one hand, and reaching out to her with the other. "Didn't see ya there. Ya Alright?"
She was meandering out of her favorite whiskey bar when the males practically ran her over, causing her to stumble backwards.
"H-Hey!" She protests trying to see who bumped into her
The grey man's head rises from the table it was resting on. He blinked several times and groaned as someone stabbed a red hot knife into his skull; at least, that's what it felt like.
Hungover and stumbling, he makes his way out of the bar and into the street. It's cold tonight.
