Vitalik is fully leaning into the cypherpunk ethos of Ethereum.
This is the right move imo. Frankly, I've wanted to see Ethereum marketing and building focus on this theme for a very long time and been highly frustrated that it's not.
Some express concerns that this approach will not be 'commercial' enough or be the best (or even a good) path to accruing value to ETH--I disagree, but of course this is a 'bet' and reasonable minds can differ on the subject.
Ethereum's engineering roadmap and selected set of tradeoffs really only make sense with the cypherpunk ethos being front-and-center. Read @0xstark 's essay, "Ethereum's Distinctive Property is Hardness". With zk proofs, anyone will be able to verify Ethereum with a phone. With FOCIL, Ethereum will be the first blockchain to enshrine an anti-censorship rule in its protocol rather than merely incenting censorship-resistance.
You can't be all things to all people. Just because Solana is doing well at some points and has selected radically different tradeoffs, does not mean "well let's jack up the gas limit to the point where all block producers need sophisticated data center setups so we can compete with Solana". You have to gear all your marketing and culture-building around the actual engineering path and tradeoffs that actually have been/are being selected, and play to the strengths of that and be willing to be honest about the tradeoffs and why they are being selected.
In short, ETH goes hard and what is being built is very radical and in some ways paradoxical--a bet that the chain that gives the least fucks about institutions and any particular parochial government will nonetheless be the most attractive for institutions and governments to build on.
The stars are aligning for ETH:
⏩ $1.25bn ETF inflows over 19 straight days
⏩ Adoption as a treasury asset
⏩ Price turnaround (+100% from lows)
Institutions are noticing.
We’ve come together to tell the world why.
Introducing ETH: Digital Oil for the Digital Economy

Time for a sentiment check…
1) Back in early March, the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) survey showed over 60% of investors were bearish.
That’s only happened five other times since the survey began in 1987…
2) The Conference Board’s March survey showed a similar spike in bearish sentiment – 44.5% of consumers expect stock prices to decline over the next year.
That’s the highest since July 2022 and, before that, October 2011…
3) The Q1 Allianz Life Study, published this week, found that 51% of Americans believe “another big market crash is on the horizon.”
4) The March BofA Fund Manager Survey reported the largest drop in US equity allocation on record... yes, on record.
Bottom line?
If you don’t think we’re heading into a 2008-style, entrenched recession, then it’s time to back the truck up and buy.
My two cents?
Despite the Q1 wobble – driven entirely by Q4’s tightening in financial conditions and fueled by speculation that tariffs, much like in Q4 2016 ahead of Trump’s first year in office, would be inflationary – markets are already reversing that concern, as evidenced by the recent decline in the dollar, bond yields, and US 1-year inflation breakeven rates.
That said, changes in financial conditions tend to work with a 10–12 week lead time, which is why risk assets are still under pressure...
The good news?
I expect Q2 to be a markedly different environment, driven by a rebound in US economic surprises and fresh liquidity coming back into markets.
Additionally, markets have already priced in a ton of uncertainty. While we may still get some near-term chop or a final dip lower into the April 2nd tariff announcement, the path of least resistance after that feels higher.
April should be the month for a turn.
That’s my contrarian take on things, anyway. Let’s see how it plays out…
Solana cofounders have time to shitpost about rolling back Ethereum and trolling it to death continually
but absolute fucking crickets when someone blows their brains out on livestream and says "if i die, make me a memecoin" from a cancerous platform on their chain
FUCK YOU
Ethereum is winning.
It’s time for $ETH to win too.
All activity in the Ethereum economy - across L1 and L2s - accrues value to ETH.
How do you buy digital gold? Own BTC.
How do you buy growth of the digital economy? Own ETH.
ALL ROADS FLOW THROUGH ETH.
Etherealize launched just 24 hours ago
The response from the ETH and TradFi ecosystems has been nothing short of incredible
Players from the Ethereum app layer, the infra layers, the L2s, and from all parts of Wall St reached out — and want to help
It’s truly inspiring

people are fading AR (augmented reality) glasses because current form factors suck and because they think people don't want to be more connected to the internet
here's why this is wrong:
form factors will improve and will be sleek in <2 years. they will plug into your phone to start, and you will want them in <4 years
they will be capable of projecting any size screen at any distance visually in front of you. no more craning to look down at a 6 inch piece of glass everyone around you can also see
they will replace your phone and for many they will replace your laptop and eventually TVs
and they will be AI-powered and interpret your environment around you. this isn't about being more online- this is about bringing digital insight to analog work. whether you're just navigating to a new place, want to learn about a new or familiar location, are cooking, or are doing any kind of irl work, AI-powered AR could have an application, and it will
further, i'll assert that this will be the biggest revolution in personal computing since the PC/laptop, and it will be even bigger than the smart phone in many critical ways imo
A great end to a fantastic betting week! The analysis paid off, and this week we beat the markets with the help of AI! I hope you all ended the week in the green. There won’t be any betting until after the international break.
Onwards and upwards!
