Never a dull moment.

Today's Auto encounter. "Autozone checked my charging system and the alternator is bad." "Can you go the the pick n pull and get one?"

Me "I sure can, if the part i pull is bad, you are still charged for it and the labor"

They said that was fine. I collect the 100% parts and 75% labor upfront.

I go in 99 degree Texas heat and retrieve one. I bring it to the customers house, pop the hood and find there is no serpentine belt. SMDH.

Autozone diagnosed a bad alternator and they didn't even check the belt was there.

So a simple 20 dollar belt was the only issue. But because the customer knew they were right, that simple belt change cost them 250 total.

Side note when I crawled under to install the belt, I saw the last 2 pictures. Both rusted out exactly the same way.
