Getting ready for our Service of Remembrance on Nov. 11th. Tidying away (literally millions 😂) of leaves, adding mulch to the flower beds, moss to the soldier displays, popping our new flag up....the list is endless, but we will be ready. We hope to see you there, all welcome.
Service of Remembrance at the Cross of Sacrifice on Mon. 11th Nov. Begin assembly at Flaybrick from 10.40am please. Service led by Rev Keith Addenbrooke of St James’s Church and Rev Joe Smith of St Oswald’s Church. All welcome at what is now our main event of the year.
We're pleased & proud to announce Birkenhead MP, Alison McGovern, has agreed to be the new patron of our charity, following on from Lord Field of Birkenhead, who held the position from 2004 until his sad death earlier this year. We look forward to a long & successful association.
AUTUMN TREE WALK...Sat. 26th Oct. Meet from 10.40am in front of the chapels, top of main drive. Walk starts 11am. £2 per person. Join our founder John Moffat and our ranger Neil Mutch on a guided tour around Flaybrick to see how beautiful it looks in the Autumn.
APPEAL FOR INFO.. An interpretation board has been ripped up & stolen. Held in ground using a bag of postcrete on each leg, weighs about 30kg. Probably required a vehicle. The things we do are repeatedly targeted and we are devastated. If you find it dumped, please let us know.
GUIDED WALK Sat. 10th August.
This month we include several of the great and good of the town, murder victims and the tragic tale of a man who died as he escaped the ravages of the First World War. £2 per person. We meet from 10.40am in front of the chapels, walk starts at 11am.

Amongst others we will be talking about several military heroes and the lawyer of the first Lord Leverhulme.

The Friends recently funded a major project, carried out with the consent and assistance of W.B.C. Monuments weighing up to a tonne, were moved back to their original graves. Thought to have been vandalised in the 80's, pushed over a wall, to a communal grave below 😟
Our new bird identifier in the Remembrance Garden. The wildflower seeds are appearing and the hedge laying we did along the railings a couple of years ago is doing great :)

As part of receiving the King's Award for Voluntary Service, 2 of our volunteers were invited to the Buckingham Palace Garden Party on Wednesday.

Friends of Flaybrick are extremely saddened today to hear of the passing of our patron, Lord Field of Birkenhead. Our very deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
