the underlying frustration behind all deltarune pacing discussion is that we’ve been following this story incrementally since 2018.
like it gets to a point. i was a freshman in high school, and if not for serious life events, I’d have a college degree now
@solrocknroll@adamthielen100@savestate01 silksong is one of my favorite games ever and I think it was entirely worth the wait. i think it would’ve sucked shit if they instead released a single area every 1-2 years
@astriker1000 well it’s clearly affected how people discuss the story, whether they recognize it or not, which is the entire point of my original tweet
ESPECIALLY in the wake of chapter 5
“id rather just wait” has been my personal opinion from the start
@GA_Reviews it’s always “no but those were tasteful and good”
and then you look at what people were actually saying about those designs and it was exactly the same
@witchylahomi@savestate01 the games I’ve seen that do this have done so for financial reasons. toby fox is so successful that he could take all the time he needs without that issue coming up
tbf i have also seen this approach from VNs and telltale-likes, but those don’t take an entire decade
@witchylahomi@savestate01 i have occassionally seen some indie devs release a partially complete game to keep the lights on. toby fox may be the single least applicable indie dev on the planet for this situation
@astriker1000 the “territory” doesn’t exist. almost no other games release in this manner. this is a model otherwise reserved for mascot horror and gacha games
