When you auscultate a BP what are you listening for? Loudest and softest sound. When someone's being augmented, what cycle is the heart in when you see the highest and lowest peak on the wave? Diastole! That's not peripheral perfusion.

75% of oxygen used by the heart is consume during the isovolumetric contract phase just to open the aortic valve. The BP makes it easier to open the Aortic Valve and reduces the time spent in the isovolumetric phase.
