Watched “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” A lonely hero. A lonely Spidey. A lonely Peter Parker. It felt fresh, and I really enjoyed it. Until now, Spider-Man films have generally been grouped into self-contained trilogies. With each new iteration, the cast and creative team changed, allowing the franchise to reinvent itself for a new era. This time, however, while both the cast and the story continue from the previous film, everything has been reset. The film focuses on Peter, once again alone, and the loneliness and inner conflict that come with that. It can be seen both as the beginning of a new series and as a direct continuation of the last one. A very clever structure. In the age of social media and its immense power to amplify every opinion, striking the right balance between what filmmakers want to create and what audiences expect has become incredibly difficult. Genuine, heartfelt filmmaking is becoming increasingly challenging. Because of that, this is a film that puts the “Brand” in “Brand New Day” to the test, as part of a blockbuster franchise that simply cannot afford to fail. 🕷️

In 2012, Sam Simon, the nine-time Emmy winner who co-created The Simpsons with Matt Groening and James L. Brooks, was diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer. Doctors gave him three to six months. Looking at his scans, they told him, "these are the scans of a dead man."
Simon had left the show back in 1993, but he kept an executive producer credit, and the royalties kept coming, tens of millions of dollars a year.
So he decided none of it was going to sit in a bank. In a 2014 interview with NBC's Maria Shriver, he confirmed he was giving away his entire $100 million fortune to charity, most of it to animal causes.
The money went to PETA, to Save the Children, and to his own Sam Simon Foundation, which feeds more than 400 hungry families a day in Los Angeles and trains service dogs for veterans and the deaf.
He spent freely on individual rescues too. In 2014 he paid to save Benjy, a "gay" bull in Ireland headed for slaughter, and shipped him to a sanctuary in England.
"I think that my passion for the animals and against animal abuse is based on the knowledge that these creatures who feel and think can't speak for themselves," he said.
Simon blew past his prognosis, dying in March 2015 at his Los Angeles home, surrounded by family and his dog. PETA named its headquarters after him, and Sea Shepherd named a ship after him, the M/Y Simon.
He even called the giving selfish. "I get to watch these animals that have been in concrete bunkers their whole life. I get to watch them take their first steps on grass."
The Simpsons creator Matt Groening jokes about future events that the series will predict.

Students, I have an announcement. One of your favorite comic book heroes, "Radio Man"-
Radioactive Man, stupid!
Strange. I shouldn't have been able to hear that.
