On July 15, 2003, he came off the bench and crushed a two-out, two-run homer off Eric Gagné to put the American League ahead 7-6.

Gagné went 55-for-55 in save chances that season and won the Cy Young.

Hank got him anyway, with World Series home-field advantage on the line.

That swing is exactly why Rangers fans loved Hammerin’ Hank.

Jerry Jones was asked about DE Sam Williams having some off the field issues since being drafted by the Cowboys last year. Williams was involved in a car wreck last year where he was driving nearly 100 miles per hour. When that was mentioned to Jones:

“First of all, I’m seeing that he is, which is more often the case than not, this sounds a little hollow, but he is maturing. And he is. What was he going 66 miles per hour (when he was arrested this year)? So, he’s 34 miles an hour less this year. Ninety-eight to 66, that’s improvement. We’ll keep working. We’ll get it down.”
