1 in 3 Kenyan women will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. Over 1,000 femicide cases have gone to court since 2016, and most are still unresolved.

These are the realities COVAW's @IvyMarigi spoke to at the #KenyaRomaniaConference on Ending GBV, Children's Safety & Human Trafficking in Nairobi last week, opened by First Lady @MamaRachelRuto.

GBV, femicide, trafficking, online child exploitation: none of these happen in isolation, so none of our responses should either. Health workers, teachers, police, the courts, faith leaders, communities: everyone has to be pulling in the same direction.

Trafficking is also changing shape; Kenyans are now being exploited through cyber-scam operations abroad, and that's a threat our systems aren't yet built to catch.

It's time we stopped playing catch-up. Let us build a response that moves as fast as the threat does.
