Sharing a recent client review. I LOVE MY JOB "Moffa, Sutton & Donnini is a life saver. I can't imagine trying to navigate thru a 3 year sales tax audit without the help of this firm. They described EXACTLY what the state was going to do and how they would counter. For me it was pretty much hands off....I could get back to running my business. Probably one of the smartest things I have done in my business life was retaining Moffa, Sutton & Donnini for my sales tax audit. Their communication was absolutely excellent. I can't stress this enough.....don't hesitate to hire them if you are facing an audit with the FL DOR. Hire them and get on with life. I couldn't be happier. I would give them all the stars if I could."
@omgsidewalks Perhaps because it was "Ice age is coming" in the 70's, "Global Warming" in the 90's, now it's "Climate Change." They still talk about how humans are affecting sea levels. Show me where the industrial revolution affected sea levels on this chart over 20,000 years...
@NathanDWebb Funny... I always think that people with a house for sale are really looking to buy a house. They just have to sell this house first..... 🤔
@LloydLegalist There's a huge sales tax case in Florida about whether those school trailer's were real property (use tax on contractor) or tangible personal property (exempt to schools). Guess which way the court went?

Sharing a success story from last week, and it's a good one! Taxpayer and their CPA came to me with an $850,000 sales tax assessment near the end of an audit. Problem was, the Florida sales tax auditor and their supervisor were applying a completely wrong statute to this taxpayer (it was a real property improvement statute, which this taxpayer did not do any real property improvement). They hired me by noon that day. By 1:00, I was on the phone with the auditor supervisor discussing why they thought the statute applied. I got no traction with the supervisor and I said let me make one phone call to see if we might get this cleared up. I emailed someone 8 levels above the audit supervisor with a simple explanation of the situation, without naming names, and asked if she agreed with me and, if so, would she be willing to help bring a little wisdom to the situation. By 2:00, the audit supervisor was back on the phone with me saying the entire assessment was being withdrawn. She also let me know that the taxpayer paid over $10,000 for sales tax on a piece of equipment at the start of the audit that probably should have been exempt as manufacturing equipment. She said she was going to mark the amount as a credit in the audit. So, in less than 2 hours after being hired, the sales tax assessment went from $850,000 to a credit of over $10,000 coming back to the taxpayer. I love my job!
