I’m 20 years old. I have dreams. I have goals. I’ve lived for life, and I want to make something out of mine.
But tonight feels different.
With everything unfolding inside the US government right now, and with multiple sources and insider reports pointing toward an imminent American nuclear strike on Iran, possibly within hours, today feels like it could be the last one.
I haven’t lived this present in a long time. The work I was supposed to finish tomorrow, the life-changing deal that was supposed to reshape everything for me, suddenly feels irrelevant. Because none of it moves the needle on what actually matters. Tomorrow everything could be normal. Or we could wake up in a world of nuclear rubble because a handful of men decided to cross a line that cannot be uncrossed.
Most people my age have no idea this is even on the table. But for everyone who does, for everyone paying attention, I’m speaking from the heart.
To the old men in power: come back to your senses. You are 70, 80 years old, deciding the fate of people you’ve never met, whose language you don’t speak, whose lives you’ll never understand. And the future of this beautiful planet, this impossible gift, is sitting in your hands right now. Especially yours, Donald Trump, because you are the one who set this in motion.
I’m asking every high-ranking politician with a voice, and especially you, Donald Trump, to reconsider. To do everything in your power to stop the escalation. There are billions of people down here with dreams, with families, with lives they love. You don’t get to drag all of that into ashes over ego, pressure, or whatever hand is being played behind the curtain. The reason doesn’t matter. The consequence does.
Donald Trump, you can still walk out of this as a hero. Pull it all back. Say it was a mistake. Say you were pushed by forces you couldn’t stand behind. You ran on peace. You ran on no new wars. You ran on a stable Middle East. That is the man I supported.
Before your campaign, I said out loud that if Trump didn’t win, the world would drift so far into ideological decay that there’d be no coming back. I believed you were the correction. A year and three months later, I’m sitting here with a feeling in my chest I’ve never had before, and it’s because of you. Or because of whoever is pulling the strings behind you. I don’t know which anymore. What I do know is that the man in that office is no longer the man I once stood behind.
Donald Trump, please. Think carefully about what you do in the next 24 hours. Decide for humanity, not against it.
