The Blockchain Should Go Where the Data Is

There is a problem hiding underneath almost every conversation about decentralized physical infrastructure.

We call it decentralized.

But the infrastructure behind it can still be surprisingly centralized.

A device collects information.

That information gets transmitted somewhere.

A centralized server processes it.

A database stores it.

A blockchain may eventually receive a representation of that information.

The physical device itself, however, remains outside the blockchain.

@Minima_Global is built around reversing that relationship.

Instead of bringing data back to centralized infrastructure before it becomes useful, put the blockchain closer to where the data is created.

At the edge.

Inside the device.

The edge is where reality happens

The physical world generates an enormous amount of data.

Sensors measure temperature.

Cars collect information about roads.

Drones record their surroundings.

Factories monitor machines.

Satellites observe the Earth.

Wearables collect information about their users.

The common characteristic is that the data is created at the edge.

Yet traditional infrastructure often works by moving that data toward centralized systems.

That creates latency.

It creates infrastructure costs.

And more importantly, it creates a point where trust has to be established.

If a sensor sends data to a centralized server, the server becomes part of the trust model.

If a company controls the database, you have to trust that company to maintain the record correctly.

Minima’s approach is different.

Its Layer 1 is designed so that edge devices can run full nodes themselves. (Minima)

The blockchain isn’t somewhere far away.

It is at the edge.
