These flowers are closed during the day, opening at dusk; their scent can be very overwhelming and the plant is pollinated by moths.
This weekend I met Pentachaeta fragilis for the first time. Fragile pygmy daisy is a plant of limited distribution and occurs primarily in the southern Sierra Nevada and south Coast Ranges in CA.
