Hey hearing people, your deaf friends aren’t “quiet.” If you don’t know sign language and you invite another person to the group and they get quiet, it’s not because they’re “quiet” or “shy.”
It’s because we’re left out and have no fucking clue what anyone is saying.
Hearing people so badly want to be part of the deaf communities, but most of them don't actually want to make life better for deaf people. They just want the sanitized, mickey mouse, it's a small world, version of deaf community that they learned about in ASL 101.
