The search for Fluency’s next masterpiece continues... 🎨
Katie has been out scouting potential entries for the Fluency Art Challenge.
This video comes with a little extra creative input too. It was edited by Woody, aged 9, who has officially earned himself the title of Art Director for the day.
The big question is... which piece of artwork will Katie choose?
Keep an eye out for more Fluency Art Challenge adventures.

We’ve done something special at Fluency. Everyone’s been given £30 to buy a piece of art for the office.
No brief, no rules on style, just find something good… Or terrible. Terribly good also counts.
The only catch is that the whole thing is being documented, and you get to vote for the winner.
We’ve got people in charity shops, scrolling Facebook Marketplace at midnight, and suddenly pretending they know what “statement pieces” are.
All artwork needs to be in the office by 8th June for the reveal when voting begins.

In light of recent Southampton FC spying allegations, Fluency would like to formally confirm:
We do not spy on competitors.
We simply conduct:
* strategic market observation
* advanced engineering intelligence
* tactical sector monitoring
* highly confidential coffee conversations at exhibitions
* completely accidental overhearing in networking areas
Completely different.

Mental Health Awareness Week | 11–17 May 2026
This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, with this year’s theme focused on action.
In busy, fast-moving industries, it can be easy to keep pushing forward without taking time to check in with ourselves or the people around us.
Small actions can make a real difference, whether that’s making time for a conversation, supporting a colleague, taking a proper break or creating space for people to speak openly.
At Fluency, we know successful businesses are built by great people. Looking after mental health should be part of how we work, lead and collaborate every day.
This week is a reminder to take a moment, check in and take action where it matters.

Strategy gets overcomplicated very quickly.
Most businesses are really trying to answer three things: where to focus, what to prioritise and what is actually going to drive growth.
The difficult part is making those decisions clearly and confidently.
Fluency Exchange works with businesses across advanced materials and engineering to bring structure to that process using real market insight and industry understanding.

In advanced industries, innovation is rarely the problem... Connection is.
Brilliant technologies. Strong capabilities. Clear ambition.
The challenge is often connecting with the right markets, the right partners, the right investors, or the right opportunities at the right time.
That gap is often where growth slows.
At Fluency, we work across advanced engineering and materials to connect strategy, marketing, people and industry in a way that helps businesses move forward commercially, not just technically.

In advanced materials and engineering, timing can be as important as strategy.
Entering a new market too early can stretch resource.
Entering too late can close opportunity.
The same applies to partnerships, acquisitions, and investment conversations.
Fluency Exchange supports businesses in assessing not just what the right move is, but when the right moment is.
Strategic growth is not only about direction.
It is about timing.

Speaking today at SAMPE 2026.
Gemma Hardy will be in the Spotlight Theatre at 10:30am presenting Engineering Growth: Aligning Strategy, Marketing, and Market Access.
In advanced materials and composites, technical excellence does not sell itself. This session looks at what happens when strategy, marketing and market access are misaligned, and what it takes to fix it.
If you’re at SAMPE this morning, it’s one to catch. And don’t forget to visit the Fluency team at Booth D7.

The difference between a good event and a strategic one?
Intent.
A conference or exhibition should not just fill a space in the calendar. It should support a clear commercial objective, align stakeholders, and move conversations forward.
From programme development and speaker strategy to delegate journey mapping and exhibition floor flow, Fluency Events ensures every decision serves a purpose.
Because strong events are not just delivered.
They are designed to drive outcomes.

Hiring is important.
But keeping the right people is transformational.
In advanced industries, knowledge compounds over time.
When talent stays, capability accelerates.
Fluency People help businesses attract, develop, and retain the specialists who sustain long-term innovation.
Because continuity is often the real competitive advantage.

We’re really proud to be part of a big weekend for Chesterfield FC.
On Saturday, we’ll be there as matchball sponsor as CFC take on Tranmere Rovers, before supporting Chesterfield FC Women as captain’s sponsor on Sunday as they face SJR Worksop Women.
We love supporting opportunities like this because it’s about more than just the game. It’s about backing ambition, celebrating progress and being part of a community that’s growing stronger every season.
Sunday’s match is set to be a huge moment, with promotion on the line, and we’re genuinely excited to be part of it.
Wishing both teams the very best for the weekend, we’ll be cheering you on.

Thank you for keeping the numbers in line, the books balanced, and the rest of us on track.
Your calm, steady approach keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes, and we’re very grateful for it.
Today, we hope the only thing you’re calculating is how big the cake slice should be.
Wishing you a fantastic birthday.
