Everyone! Please welcome our newest fluffy to the farm!!! 🤠❤️🙏🏻🐊

Armando is very handsome, sweet, cuddly and very playful. He is enjoying his mud baths and loves his daily schvitz! His death rolls have become a big hit on the farm!

Despite the fact we had to relocate the lambs and the bunnies from his new area (and the pigs and the goats and the dogs and the donkeys and the tortoise and the cats and the chickens), he is really enjoying his pen!

Farmer Chris has only lost 1 finger so far feeding him, but we put it in the freezer and we think we can reattach.

We are looking forward to offering gator bustin for the kids to ride him this Easter weekend!

We incubated chicks in a new incubator that worked really well. Day 21 came and they all pipped out!

We then brought them to the brooder in the barn. They are all healthy and eating and drinking their magic water!

So stinking cute! 🥚 🐣 🐥 🐤 🐓 🐔

I have been reticent on making this post because it is tremendously emotional and painful.

Last Thursday Magnolia, one of our amazing mini-Mediterranean donkeys, was savagely attacked by predators. Whether bobcat, mountain lion or pack of coyotes, we are still not sure.

They left multiple long superficial scratches, deeper claw marks that needed suturing, and 3 gaping holes that we could not close. The largest one which is bigger than a honeydew on the inside of her leg miraculously escaped damage on her abdominal wall. By the grace of God.

I will not post the actual photos of the attack as they are gruesome and upsetting. We really thought we would lose her.

When I found her, we immediately tried to get her under shelter as it was pouring rain and muddy. I called our amazing vet, Dr. Mike Sheffield at Wimberley Vet Clinic who dropped everything to come out to the farm. He and his assistant were able to help stabilize, clean, suture, and provide immediate triage.

But she needed immediate surgery at the clinic. We are so thankful to our wonderful neighbor Aaron for allowing us to use his business box trailer to get there.

Magnolia was treated with absolute caring, professional and wonderful medical assistance by Dr. Mike and staff.

She is back home in the barn. But this process will take months. Twice daily flushing, antibiotics, physical therapy, and lots of love.

We’re still not out of danger, but with Dr. Mike and his expertise, everyone’s prayers and constant love to my baby, we are very hopeful.

Thank you to everyone who has sent prayers and love.

We are hoping for the best.
Praying for her.
And doing everything we can to make her as comfortable and healthy as we can.

We love you, Mags. We’re gonna make it through this.

I admit. I’ve been holding out on this little nugget for a week. Midnight Rider here was born on midnight on Daylight Savings Time. Both her mom (Cappy Cappuccino) and baby were having issues all week and I didn’t want to post until both were better. They are now with their people in the fields!
