I’ll get hate for this, but let’s not sugarcoat it: gender equality exists because men chose to institutionalize it. If men collectively decided tomorrow that gender equality should cease to exist, women couldn’t do much about it. That’s the uncomfortable reality of power.
Look, I beg you. Become really good at something. Like wickedly good. Then let as many people as possible know you’re really good at that thing. The consequences will change your life.

Full grown adults that can’t swim, cycle, skate, backpack, take a gap year, vacation, play an instrument or speak multiple foreign languages. Just a lifetime of hustling and trying to leave survival mode. These are subtle poverty metrics that no one really talks about
It’s actually so unfair.
I passed through training school. We were taught on Company policy. A facilitator was fining us for using ma for her. We were told about how Trainees are ambassadors of the Company and how we are expected to imbibe Company culture even more than others.
The average Nigerian worker is traumatised, they just don’t realise it yet.
People who run errands like buying recharge card, helping their boss to pick up clothes from their tailor, going to the market to buy pepper and okro soup ingredients, etc.
There’s no way they can comprehend referring to their boss by first name.
They even say thank you after receiving their salary 😭
Some of them work in companies with advertised annual leave but have to beg to get it.
The best way to honour someone who did a lot for you but regressed into someone you can no longer respect, is to remember the best version of them and be thankful for what they did for you. Even if they ultimately failed you, they gave you a great gift as proof of their love.
Everything is easy to conceptualize until you meet someone you realize you will be an absolute fool to let something as impermanent as distance rob you of the irreplaceable gift of their presence in your life.
