@biskupsstofan @RNASCuldrose In the extremely rare event of an emergency ditching in the sea it's a hand rail for the Observer and Aircrewman to grab hold of and follow to make sure they find their exits when top-heavy aircraft rolls upside down. Bright white and illuminated to help escape in total darkness.
