While everyone else is slinging crankbaits and acting like they’re in a Bass Pro Shops commercial, the real weirdos (hi, that’s us) are out there trying to fly fish for 10+ pound largemouths.
Yes, you read that right. Fly fishing. On a lake famous for growing bass so big they look like they bench-press Subarus before breakfast.
Best windows? Late February through early April for prespawn aggression, March–May for sight-fishing beds (if you enjoy getting stared down by a fish with an attitude worse than a DMV clerk), and fall when the shad are running like it’s Black Friday.
Pack an 8-weight minimum (9 or 10 is smarter, unless you enjoy getting humbled). Bring Clouser Minnows, Murder Chuggers, Game Changers, and a healthy dose of delusion.
