Another tired, lazy, rinse and repeat article from another CFB writer who did zero homework. This guy even writes, “What’s next, Notre Dame demanding it doesn’t have to play Miami after this season?”
Does anyone that covers CFB do any research anymore, or do they just do nothing but vomit their feelings into an article? One of Notre Dame’s biggest beefs is they DON’T play the top schools enough. Notre Dame is LITERALLY trying to get the ACC to put Miami and FSU on the schedule more. That’s why ND said “F it” and did their own 10-year schedule with Clemson.
Here’s another lazy, emotional comment from his article:
“Great, how about those TV ratings that drive the engine of the sport?”
Really? For one, Notre Dame drew more TV viewers than any team in the ACC last season and it wasn’t overly close. A big reason Notre Dame’s numbers are down is because of the ACC. Try taking ND out and see how their numbers go, which is why the ACC wants ND in the first place.
Notre Dame was the most watched game for 5 opponents this season and No. 2 for 4 other opponents. That includes three of the 5 ACC opponents. ND vs Purdue also drew more than Purdue vs OSU, Purdue vs Michigan and Purdue vs Indiana Notre Dame vs Pitt had 3.96M viewers. Miami vs Pitt had 2.2M, Florida State vs Pitt had 2.05M, Georgia Tech vs Pitt had 2.03M.
In fact, Notre Dame and Miami played 3 common opponents in games on network TV, and Notre Dame did better numbers than Miami in EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. That matters, because Miami had BY FAR the best TV numbers in the ACC last year …. and was still behind ND.
ND vs Pitt – 3.96M
UM vs Pitt – 2.22M
ND vs Cuse – 1.89M
UM vs Cuse – 1.20 M
ND vs Stanford – 1.52M
UM vs Stanford – 1.21M
How about a game against a top AAC team?
ND vs Navy – 3.19M
UM vs USF – 740K
Notre Dame vs Arkansas drew over 2M more viewers than every Miami game outside of Miami/FSU and Miami/UF. Notre Dame vs Navy drew more than 9 Miami games. Notre Dame vs Purdue drew more than 9 Miami games. Notre Dame vs Pitt drew more than 9 Miami games. The only game Arkansas played that drew more viewers than ND was Texas. ND vs Purdue drew 1.3M more viewers than Purdue vs Ohio State.
Heck, Notre Dame vs Boise State had the same number of views as Miami vs. Pitt, with a playoff spot on the line for Miami.
I also loves how he glosses over the 90% vs 23% sellout rate for Notre Dame games in the ACC compared to regular ACC games. Like that’s no big deal. Way to just dismiss a selling point that results in MILLIONS of dollars to ACC schools.
In an era where teams are BEGGING for more money, let’s go ahead and be pissed off at the team that all but guarantees we rake in millions more dollars on ticket sales than we would if they weren’t on the schedule.
Do some homework, and look at what the ticket prices are for ND vs ACC teams on the road compared to their ticket prices for everyone else. In this NIL era, where teams are desperate for money, playing Notre Dame guarantees MILLIONS more in revenue compared to not having ND on the schedule. But sure, let’s ignore that so that we can write the 5,188th lazy article about how bad ND is. Please, be original for once.
The ACC is a dying conference, one that is hurting for revenue. Not one single ACC teams ranks in the Top 10 in athletics revenue last season. Not one. Notre Dame was 3rd.
But sure, let’s whine about a program that RAKES in money for those programs. Let’s whine about a program that is the best draw that your league has.
@cookie_delgadoe@AntolJoey50989@TheEXECUTlONER_ You cant assist a runner with touching a base though, that would be an out which gets us to the same result.
The ejection was a shockingly quick trigger and unnecessary (from what we have seen) but I don’t think there’s a single thing that he did objectively wrong.
The abrupt end directly led us to where we are. You need a Barlow and you need a Ron who are great basketball people, but before that, they’re great Butler People.
Comments like this demonstrate a fundamental and emphatic lack of understanding of both Butler and college sports in general. Butler is a special place and special community. But it’s not a special place to play ball. Hiring someone to coach basketball there sets them up to fail.
Not sure what would be worse for the state of the program
We genuinely went after Steele, Groce, Holtmann, Shrewsberry, and others and couldn’t get a single one to want to coach at Butler
Or
It was always Nored from the start and no one else was considered
To win you need someone who knows how to marry the community and the basketball together. There are 2 people equipped to do this Alex Barlow and Ron Nored. When you hire a guy to coach basketball there, you get Chris Holtmann. Yes, he did very well but the end was always near.
Greg, honestly a crock of shit. BYU just made the same type of hire. Did they do it because they lack money? Because they’re lazy?
If you have high conviction in this guy, what point does looking beyond this guy do? You’re hiring for *this* job, not *a* job.
Butler couldn’t afford the best coach available, but the Dawgs could afford Ronald Nored. The Butler Way has crashed headfirst into the fiscal reality of high-major college basketball in the NIL era.
Can Nored beat the odds?

@THEAkeemGlaspie Akeem, wanted to give you a shout out on the work you’ve done this year. It feels like we have a real “beat reporter” in the old timey sense where the journalist is ahead of the stories with the pertinent information because they are well connected and it’s been awesome.
@hardwiredsports The only way I am okay with them making it is if we recognize that they don’t deserve it but that big schools can’t refuse to schedule mid majors without consequences. There is no argument whatsoever for them deserving to be there unless we are doing so to socialize cbp power
@AKasle_BU He would require full time medical care to not be sent into cardiac arrest trying to teach the posts to unlearn the garbage defensive habits they have now
@AKasle_BU While obviously recklessly bad if construed as advice, it certainly isn’t unconstitutional.
I also think he could argue it’s not advice but criticism of the government in the form of inferences which would absolve him of any theoretical statutory issues as well.
Still stupid
@bheadr75@westlotpirates Im not interested in an analysis this narrow. how would a good supporting cast help him score more? Does he score because he takes a lot of shots or does he takes a lot of shots because he can score. NU not winning games with him doesnt mean hes not impactful as hell
@AKasle_BU We’re among the worst coached college defensive teams I’ve ever seen though. It’s schematic and execution way more than the ability of the personnel. My foremost complaint with Thad is his lack of intervention to force changes there.
@AKasle_BU He’s an experienced initiator of the offense who can get a basket when possessions break down, win one on one matchups and cant be left alone on the perimeter while not getting hunted on defense. Take most of stinks defense and add scoring.
